Franklin BOC to Review Land Use Ordinance Tonight

Franklin County Commissioners are expected to get an update this evening on their request to update the county’s land use ordinance.

At their work session last month,  the board heard from commissioner Clint Harper who said it’s time for the county to re-evaluate its zoning laws.  Harper said some of the ordinances don’t make sense.

For example, Harper pointed to a section of the ordinance that bars a property owner with 50 acres from building more than one house on that land.

Franklin County’s zoning ordinances were first passed in 2005.  Since then no changes have been made.  The board has directed County manager John Phillips to meet with the Planning Commission to begin a comprehensive review of the zoning laws.

In other business tonight, a Carnesville couple who were attacked by a pitbull when they went to buy firewood will also come before the board tonight.

Ed Stanley says his wife was severely bitten on the leg and is still undergoing treatment.  Stanley is trying to have the dog euthanized.

Tonight’s meeting begins at 6p at the Franklin CountyJustice Center in Carnesville.
