Fr Co Historical Society Asking for Old Fashioned Board Games for Festival

Franklin County Historical Society is seeking donations of old-fashioned board games and card games for their fall festival coming up Saturday, October 29th at Carnesville Community Park.

The Fall Festival will be held on Saturday, October 29 at Carnesville Community Park.

Organizer Andrea Freeland says the festival is a way for the non-profit group to recoup funds lost for the past two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In addition to arts and crafts as well as food vendors, the festival will feature some old-fashioned baking and canning competitions with judges.

Freeland said another competition since the festival is so close to Halloween will be a Jack-O-Lantern carving competition with prizes for the best-carved pumpkin.

The festival takes place from 10a to 7p on the 29th.

The cake walk takes place at 11a, sack races and tug-of-war games happen at 1p, the cake/pie/jam & jelly competition is at 4p, and throughout the day there will be demonstrations by the Franklin Rangers.

The festival ends with the movie, Hocus Pocus from 7p to 9p.

If you can donate board or card games or are interested in being an arts and crafts or food vendor you need to contact Freeland by October 15 at 706-990-9960.
