Fourth Suspect in Two-Year-Old Bank Robbery Nabbed

Two years after an armed robbery at North Georgia Credit Union in Lavonia, a fourth suspect is behind bars.

The armed robbery took place September 22, 2011 and agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigation have been continuing to work the case, with help from the Lavonia Police.

Lavonia Police Chief Bruce Carlisle said on Wednesday, the FBI made another arrest in the case in Athens.

“Orlando Brock was arrested by agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigation,” Carlisle said. “He was charged with armed bank robbery and brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence.”

Brock was arrested at the Fed Ex office where he worked as a supervisor, according to Carlisle.

He was taken by FBI agents to a federal holding facility in Macon and will appear before a federal Magistrate Judge.

Carlisle said the arrest came after agents with the FBI received information from two of the other three suspects already in custody.

In September, 2011 at least three suspects robbed the Lavonia branch of North Georgia Credit Union in the late afternoon.

Shortly after the robbery, 43-year old Walter Butler, Jr of Bowersville was arrested by the Georgia State Patrol after a short chase.

Later, authorities arrested the second suspect, identified as 40-year old Juan Vladimer Camp of Gainesville.

Camp was picked up at a construction job site in Gwinnett County.

A third suspect, Alan Colbert was arrested in December 2012.

“Butler, Camp, and Colbert, were all indicted on federal bank robbery charges,” Carlisle said. “Camp and Colbert have pleaded guilty and are cooperating with investigators.”

That cooperation, he said, led to the recovery of the gun used in the armed robbery.

“A team of FBI agents came to Lavonia and based on information from one of the suspects we searched an area in Lavonia and were able to recover the weapon,” he said.
