Four people, one a juvenile, have been arrested in connection with an armed robbery in Madison County.

Comer Police Chief Dennis Bell said it happened at the Valero Gas Station and Convenience Store at the intersection of SR’s 98 and 72.

“Two masked robbers entered the store and one of the robbers had a handgun, which he put in the clerk’s face. He told her if she didn’t give him the money from the cash register, he would kill her,” Bell said. “Both men were wearing ski masks and gloves so it was hard to identify them.”

The suspects made off with an undetermined amount of cash. Later, Comer Police along with investigators from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation released surveillance video of the robbery.

Last week, Bell said the owner of the store offered a $1,000 reward leading to an arrest.  But he said Tuesday, the discovery and arrest of the suspects came down to good old fashioned police work.

“Madison County Sheriff’s department along with the Comer Police Department had different information coming in from different places,” Bell said. “We gave it to the GBI and they put it together and they got them. This is a prime example of agencies working together like it should be.”

According to a press release from the GBI issued Tuesday, the three adults are identified as 19-year old Randy McLaughlin and18-year old Kaitlyn Rice, both of 924 Highway 191 in Danielsville, and 17-year old Tristan Seymour of the same address.

Seymour and a juvenile accomplice were arrested Saturday at the Danielsville address.  Seymour is charged with armed robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

McLaughlin and Rice were arrested Monday and charged with party to the crime of armed robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

Bell said Rice is a former employee of that convenience store.

All three adults remain in the Madison County Detention Center. Charges on the juvenile have not been released.  Bell said the investigation continues and more arrests are expected.
