Flu Shots Offered at Franklin Spgs City Hall Today

Just a reminder, the Franklin County Health Department will be offering flu vaccines at the Franklin Springs City Hall today.

Today’s flu clinic is part of a series of clinics offered this month and next throughout Franklin County, according to Health Department Nurse manager Angy Fowler.

“The health department will be doing a community flu shot clinic from 9:30a – 11a Tuesday,” Fowler said. “We will do another flu clinic at Canon City Hall on October 8th from 9:30a – 11a.  Flu shots are also offered at the Franklin County Health Department Clinic on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9a – 11a and 1p – 4p. No appointments are necessary on those days.”

Cost of the flu shots is $25 and all insurance is accepted.

Dave Palmer with District 2 Public Health said reports of flu have been reported as early as mid-summer this year.  Palmer said that’s one reason why there is a new high-dose flu vaccine for senior citizens.

Everyone, six months of age and older, should be vaccinated against the flu, according to Palmer, especially those who are pregnant, have compromised immune system and health care workers.
