Five From Hart County Charged with Drug Possession in South Carolina

A routine traffic stop Sunday in Seneca, SC resulted in the arrest of five people from Hart and Franklin counties.

Seneca Police say at about 2 a.m. Sunday morning officers pulled over a vehicle with Georgia tags for a routine traffic stop on the 123 Bypass.

Officers say they smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

After asking to search the car, officers say they found a leafy green substance they believed was marijuana in the floorboards, seats and middle console area of the car.

Officers say more marijuana was also found later in a plastic pouch and a tic-tac container.

Arrested was 21-year old Jessica Laisha Arnold of Bowman, 20-year old Rana Nicole Harris of Hartwell, 23-year old Jeffery ONeal Roper of Canon, 19-year old Andrea Katherine Swann of Hartwell, 19-year old Edward Charles Reed of Hartwell.

According to the incident report, all five initially denied knowing anything about the marijuana, but later, two admitted to having more of the drug hidden on their person.

All five were charged with possession of marijuana and booked into the Oconee County Jail to await a bond hearing.
