First Annual Franklin Co Historical Society Fall Festival this Saturday

Just a reminder that the first-ever Franklin County Historical Society Fall Festival will be held on Saturday, October 29 at Carnesville Community Park.

The festival takes place from 10a to 7p on Saturday.

Organizer Andrea Freeland says the festival is a way for the non-profit group to recoup funds lost for the past two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

She said they’ve gotten a good response from vendors and others in the community to make the festival a lot of fun for everyone.

“We will have 37 vendors, six are food vendors,” she said. “We will also have a bouncy house and games for the kids, old-fashioned baking and canning competitions with judges, and other activities. So, we’re looking forward to a great event.”

Freeland said another competition since the festival is so close to Halloween will be a Jack-O-Lantern carving competition with prizes for the best-carved pumpkin.

There will also be a cakewalk that takes place at 11a.

In addition, she said people will be able to enjoy some old-fashioned games such as checkers, cards, twister, and other old-fashioned board games.

Sack races and a tug-of-war competition happen at 1p, the cake/pie/jam & jelly competition is at 4p, and throughout the day there will be demonstrations by the Franklin Rangers.

The festival ends with the movie, Hocus Pocus from 7p to 9p.

Again the Franklin County Historical Society Fall Festival takes place Saturday from 10a to 7p at the Carnesville Community Park.
