Final of Week of Advance Voting Begins Today for Presidential Preference Primary

The third and final week of Advance Voting begins today ahead of the Presidential Preference Primary on March 12.

As of Friday afternoon in Franklin County, 474 people had cast early ballots according to Elections Supervisor Tracie Creason.

In Hart County, Election Supervisor Robin Webb said 749 people at opted to vote early so far.

The second and final Saturday early voting day was Saturday, March 2.

On the Republican ballot, of the 11 candidates currently listed on the ballot in Georgia, only three are still are still running.

They are former President Donald Trump, former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, and US Air Force Reserve pilot Major David Stuckenberg.

Last week, long-shot pastor and the chief executive of a Texas mergers and acquisitions firm, Ryan Binkley dropped out and threw his support behind Donald Trump.

On the Democratic Ballot, in a weird turn of events, Incumbent President Joe Biden Jr. is once again facing two challengers.

Author Marianne Williamson, who had announced her decision to drop out of the race two weeks ago, decided to “Unsuspend” her 2024 Presidential Campaign after beating another Biden challenger, Democratic Congressman Dean Phillips in the Michigan Primary by a half-percent.

Williamson received 3% of the vote in that race to Phillips 2.5%.

Additionally, Senator Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is running as an independent but is not on the Georgia Presidential Preference Primary ballot.

Hart County Elections Supervisor Robin Webb said Kennedy will be on the November ballot providing he gets enough signatures in Georgia to run.

In Georgia, to run as an independent candidate for President a candidate must get 7,500 signatures before they can be placed on the ballot.

The filing deadline for an independent Presidential candidate to be placed on the ballot is July 9, 2024.

Advance voting ends this Friday.
