Filming Underway for National Real Estate Show Featuring Local Realtor

Filming is underway for more episodes of the national real estate show, “The American Dream: Selling Atlanta.”  And a few of the episodes will feature a face many of you already know, Shelley Phillips.  Phillips, who is the owner/broker/realtor with Re/Max Classic in Lavonia says she began filming the first of six shows in August.  Phillips joins a group of approximately 20 realtors from all over the state selected for the Atlanta season of the show.

Shelley Phillips says the show doesn’t just feature Atlanta, but places all over the state.  She says her episodes will focus on Franklin, Hart, and Stephens Counties.  Phillips says most of the content will be on the sights, sounds, and culture of the area along with a little real estate.

“It’s not an HGTV, ‘Come view my listing.’  Let’s show three buyers, and somebody wants it.  It’s a ‘Let me show you how our area is, the lifestyle of our area, how people live,’ just things about the Lake Hartwell Area.  So I’ll actually cover a variety of areas here and a variety of things in my episodes.”

In fact, Phillips will be out at Hartwell Speedway this Saturday night filming her second episode.

“You know I decided to do the dirt track race because that’s a lot of people, clients that I have, when they come into town, say a lot people come up here camping.  So that’s just something that they enjoy.  So I decided ‘That’s different for us!’  I decided that would be great to show that we do in the Lake Hartwell area.”

Phillips says while it’s been an exciting experience for, it’s definitely been a new challenge for making the show.

“Of course nervous because it’s funny that they would want somebody like me to do it.  I thought it was going to be, I’m going to be the ‘Comedy Hour’ so they could laugh at my country accent and stuff like that.  So it’s very nerve wracking though, so when the camera comes on, it’s like you freeze.  I’ve been selling real estate for 21 years, and I can tell you about every home I walk in and name every feature in a heartbeat.  But when that camera comes on, it was like I just froze up.  So it’s a lot harder than it looks.”

Phillips says the third episode of the show will feature Royston along with The Old Corner Hardware Store Lunchroom and their Air BnB upstairs.

Phillips says her first episode of “The American Dream: Selling Atlanta” will debut sometime this month on select cable channels, plus YouTube TV, Roku, and Apple TV.
