Family Foundation to Match Donations to Northeast Georgia Animal Shelter

A family foundation is lending a hand to efforts by the Northeast Georgia Animal Shelter to raise money to complete the planned Adoption Center.

According to Shelter Director Tammi Jourdenais the foundation has offered to match any future donations to the project.

Jourdenais said the family and their foundation have asked to remain anonymous as part of the matching gift agreement through the end of December.

“Up until December 27th, every dollar that we raise up to $75,000 will be matched by a generous family foundation,” Jourdenais said. “These funds will enable us to build the new shelter addition essential to serving the growing numbers of animals in our community. Please donate today and help us take full advantage of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to directly impact the lives of the pets in our care.”

In March, the shelter staff and board members broke ground on the Adoption wing which will serve as a new area and kennel for dogs that are adoptable.

The current building will serve as a holding area for newly surrendered dogs and puppies.

There is already a separate building for cats and kittens. The total cost of construction is estimated to be close to $500,000.

At the time of the groundbreaking Jourdenais said they will not be able to complete the new adoption center without the help of the community.

Again, anyone who makes a monetary donation to the Northeast Georgia Animal Shelter’s adoption wing project will be matched by the anonymous family foundation through the end of December.
