Emmanuel Graduates 144 Students

It’s graduation time, and at Emmanuel College 144 students (132 baccalaureates, 12 associates) recently walked across the stage at the John W. Swails Center to receive their diplomas.

Hailey Schweigardt of Hickory, NC was named Valedictorian of the associate degree class.

Mickaela Davis, of Gilbertsville, PA who majored in Criminal Justice, Sierra Mann of Hamilton, AL who majored in Elementary Education, and Caleb Mooring of Pikeville, NC, a Music Education major shared the 2022 Valedictorian title for the bachelor’s degree.

Emmanuel alumna, Dr. Cheryl Bridges Johns served as the 2022 Commencement speaker.

Dr. Bridges Johns currently serves as the Robert E. Fisher Chair of Spiritual Renewal at the Pentecostal Theological Seminary.

She shared with the graduates that they are called to make an impact telling them they don’t come to college to stay, they come to go.

And she encouraged the students to go into their next chapter of life with knowledge and love.

This year’s Faculty Award Winners were Karis Smith and Caleb Mooring.

Each year, faculty and staff members are recognized for admirable performance in their duties and service to the college and campus community.

This year, Owen Thomason received the Lee H. and Lucille Firebaugh Memorial Award.

Debra Grizzle, Registrar was awarded the annual Vulcan Award for her 44 years of service to the College.

And the Lorraine Wells Melton Support Staff Award was given to Elaine Saxon.

Dr. Richard “Bud” Reiselt was awarded the President Thomas L. Aaron Award and Honorarium.
