Emmanuel College to Hold Open Houses for New Graduate Programs

Emmanuel College is kicking off its new graduate school programs with several open houses this month and in March. Three open house sessions are scheduled.

The first is coming up on February 28th for those interested in the Masters of Exercise Science program.

A second is scheduled for Tuesday, March 1, for anyone interested in the Masters in Elementary Education degree, and a third takes place Thursday, March 3, for those interested in either the Masters in Ministry or Masters of Divinity programs.

All of the open houses take place in the evening beginning at 7:30p in Taylor Chapel.

Mac Dye is the Online Enrollment Counselor for Emmanuel.  Dye says the open houses are a time for prospective students to get more information on the degree program they’re interested in.

“Basically, what we’ll go over that night is basic admissions information and what is required to get into graduate school,” he said. “From there some program-specific requirements. Then, the faculty coordinator will go over the program, what students will encounter, how many hours, and basically the ins and outs of what classes will look like in the graduate school.”

He said each program in the four graduate programs has a graduate school coordinator and all three will be at their respective open house to explain the course content.

In December, Emmanuel College announced that the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges had granted Level III status to the school, enabling the College to move forward with its plan to offer several master’s degree programs.

Dye said all of the Masters programs will be online and students will be able to select how many hours they want to have each module.

“The Masters of Exercise Science is the only one that might have a component where they come to campus for an intensive but the other programs will be completed completely online,” he said.

Dye said the classes are on an eight-week module; a 16-week semester with two eight-week modules.  Students can choose whether to take one or two classes in each module, depending on how quickly they want to get done.

Dye said since announcing the Graduate School programs in December, there has been a good amount of interest from prospective students.

Graduate school classes will begin in the fall.
