Emmanuel College President Announces Retirement

Emmanuel College President Dr. Ron White has announced his retirement.

White made the announcement to faculty and staff in a meeting last Thursday.

Dr. White completes 31 years of service to Emmanuel College this year, the last nine as president.

“Serving as president has been the greatest honor in my life,” said Dr. White. “I am extremely grateful for the Emmanuel family – for their commitment and dedication to our mission, their sacrifice in serving, and for their support during my presidency.”

During his tenure, Emmanuel witnessed numerous accomplishments including offering fully online undergraduate degrees, achieving level three accreditation which enabled the College to start its first master’s degree programs, a reduction of over $25 million of debt, full membership in the NCAA Division II, and major renovations of Wellons Hall, the Swails Center, and the Aaron Building.

Dr. White stated, “I’m convinced that God is preparing a bold, energetic leader who can inspire all of us to reach higher. A new president will bring fresh strategies and plans that will encourage our hearts and solve many of our challenges. God will supply us with a visionary leader who will propel us into a future characterized by prosperity and progress.”

The Board of Trustees has a Presidential Succession Plan in place to search for the next leader. Work is already underway to implement the plan and install a new president within the next six months. Following the next Board of Trustees meeting in late March, information will be posted on Emmanuel’s website regarding the position and the application process.

David Roberson, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, stated, “The Board of Trustees is grateful for the significant impact President White has had on Emmanuel College during his many years of service and especially during his tenure as President. As much as we would love for him to continue as President, we understand and support him in his decision to retire.”

The Board of Trustees has activated its Presidential Succession Plan which includes engaging a national executive search firm to find the next president for Emmanuel College. Dr. White has agreed to remain in the position until his replacement is appointed.
