Emergency Food, Shelter Funds Available Through 9th District Oppty

Ninth District Opportunity has funding available to local counties for emergency food and shelter programs.

The funding was released to Georgia through the Department of Homeland Security and the Federal Emergency Management Agency or FEMA.

Recipients of the funding were determined by a national board consisting of representatives from the American Red Cross, Catholic Charities USA, the National Council of Churches, the Salvation Army, United Way, and the United Jewish Communities.

Franklin County will receive $11,066.

A local board will be deciding how those funds will be utilized.

To apply for funding, an organization must be a private, voluntary non-profit or government agency, have an accounting system, must not discriminate, and be able to demonstrate that they are able to deliver emergency food or shelter programs.

To get more information or to apply for funding, contact Brenda Dalin at the Ninth District Opportunity offices in Gainesville at 770-532-3191.
