Elizabeth Busby Sworn in As Interim Franklin Co Commissioner for District 3

Elizabeth Busby has been sworn in as the Interim Franklin County Commissioner for District 3.

Busby was sworn in Monday morning by Franklin County Probate Judge Ken Eavenson.

“I’m excited and a little nervous, I can’t lie. I just feel honored that everybody trusted me and I’ll always try to do my best for the County,” she said Monday.

Busby is filling the unexpired term of former Commissioner Ryan Swails who resigned in July due to a job transfer. She said Monday, she expects this interim term to be a time of getting her political feet wet.

“I’d like to see better communication between people. Of course, I won’t be able to go through training before serving this term. So, it’s going to be kind of a learning curve, I think,” she said.

Busby begins her interim term on the Franklin County Commission on September 1. She will attend her first Board of Commissioners public hearing and regular meeting on Monday, September 19.

Busby is running unopposed in the November General Election as the Republican candidate for the District 3 County Commission four-year term that begins January 1, 2023.
