Elberton Men Charged After Traffic Stop

Two  Elbert County men are facing drug charges after a traffic stop late last Friday evening.

According to a report from the Elbert County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy initiated a traffic stop on the Hartwell Highway after clocking a vehicle going 75mph in a 55mph zone.

25-year-old Willie Maxwell of  Limo Road in Elberton was arrested.

He was charged with felony Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute, Speeding in Excess of Maximum Limits and Possession of Drug Related Objects.

A passenger in the vehicle identified as 25-year-old David Rucker of Hunter Road in Elberton, was also arrested on a misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana charge.

Both were taken to the Elbert County Detention Center and were later released on bond.
