Elbert County Woman Killed in Crash Friday

It will be a sad holiday for the family of an Elbert County woman who died over the weekend in a fatal crash.

According to Georgia State Patrol Trooper Sgt Ray Dean with Hartwell Post 52, it happened Friday night at about 9:41 on Lake Forest Circle in Elbert County.

Dean said a white 2017 Chevy Equinox was traveling north on Lake Forest Circle when it left the shoulder of the roadway and struck a tree with its front end.

The driver was taken to Piedmont Athens Regional with non-life-threatening injuries.

The passenger was transported to Elbert Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

She is identified as 55-year-old Tracey E Routh of Elbert County.

Dean said the Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team (SCRT) responded to the scene to assist and the crash remains under investigation.
