Early Voting for Hart County ESPLOST Referendum Continues This Week

Early voting for the Hart County Education Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax referendum ends this week.

The Special Election for the ESPLOST referendum is next Tuesday, March 21.

According to Hart County Elections Supervisor Robin Webb, they’ve had 766 people cast an early ballot as of last Friday.

Next Tuesday, voters will go to their precinct to vote.

If the ESPLOST passes, the Hart County Charter system expects to collect $30.5 million over the next five years.

Some of the projects the one-cent sales tax would be used for, according to School Superintendent Jennifer Carter include renovations to both North and South Hart Elementary Schools, new administration offices, and a number of renovations and upgrades on the campus of Hart County High School to include expanded parking and a new field house next to the Hart County High School football field.

The School System also plans to build a new transportation building.

Early voting is taking place this week through Friday at the Hart County Board of Elections office on Cade St.
