Early Voting Ends Today for Hart County District 2 Run-off

Early voting ends today in Hart County in the run-off election for the District 2 Board of Commission seat.

Voters are casting their ballots at the Hart County Registrar’s office.   County Registrar John Stercho says as expected, voter turnout has been light.

“We have just hit 230,” Stercho said Thursday afternoon. “There are 2,900 registered voters in the district so we’re on par with early voting in the Special Election last month.”

Voters are deciding between two Republican candidates, retired Whitworth prison warden Frankie Teasley and retired businessman Garry Hamilton.

The run-off election is next Tuesday, April 15.   Whoever wins the run-off will serve out the term of the late Dan Reyen who died last November.   They will then have to run again in May for the next four year term, which begins January 1, 2015.

Stercho said his office on Cade St. in Hartwell will be open until 5p today including during the lunch hour.
