Early Voting Begins Today for Presidential Preference Primary

Early VotingEarly voting gets underway today in Georgia for the March 1 Presidential Preference Primary.

Early voting runs through February Friday, February 26th with one Saturday to vote.

Voters will be selecting their candidates for the 2016 Presidential Election.

In Franklin County, they will also be deciding on whether to continue the Education Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax or e-SPLOST.

In Franklin County, voters will go to the Franklin County Elections and Registrations Office in Carnesville from 8:00a-4:30p.

In Hart County, voters will go to the Elections and Registrations office on Cade St. in Hartwell.
There will be one day for voters to early vote on a Saturday and that will be February 20 from 9a to 4p.

Franklin County Elections Supervisor Gina Chappalear says anyone who needs an absentee ballot for the March 1st Primary needs to contact her office as soon as possible.

“Voters can go ahead and start calling our office to request an absentee ballot,” she said. “They need to call our office, we will mail them an application, which they will mail back to us and then we will mail a ballot out to them. The last day for ballots to be mailed out is February 26th.”

Chappalear advises against waiting until the last minute to request an absentee ballot however, because you might not get it in the mail with enough time to return it to her office before March 1st.

With Franklin County’s new Web site now up and running, Chappalear says voters can online to get more information on the March 1s Primary and voter information.

“All of this information is on our Web site. There are also links to be able to fill out the application for the absentee ballot,” Chappalear explained. “On there, they can type it in, print it off and fax it to me. I’ve tried to make everything accessible to everybody.”
