Danielsville Man Charged with Vehicular Homicide in Death of Royston Woman

A Danielsville man is facing vehicular homicide charges in connection with the death of a Franklin County woman.

According to a report in the Athens Banner-Herald, 31-year-old Anthony Mark Green was arrested on April 29 after being indicted by a Madison County Grand Jury.

Green was also indicted on lesser charges of reckless driving, following too close, driving too fast and causing serious injury by vehicle.

On October 2, 2020 Green was involved in a three-car wreck on U.S. Highway 29 near Moons Grove Church Road.

In that wreck, 64-year old Karen “Kay” Kirk of Royston was killed.

District attorney Parks White told the paper Monday that new evidence was recently presented to the Madison County Grand Jury that had not previously been filed in the case.

White said evidence from a Georgia State Patrol investigation showed Green was distracted while driving and ran into a vehicle in front of him, then crossed into the opposite lane and collided with the vehicle Kirk was a passenger in.

Kirk’s husband, Louie R. Bishop, 72, was seriously injured in the crash, as was Green and his wife, Amanda C. Green, 32, according to the patrol report.

Kirk was retired from the University of Georgia, where she was a longtime secretary in the law school.

Green is expected to be arraigned on the charges later this year.
