County and Municipal Boards Hold Work Sessions Tonight

Several county and municipal meetings are taking place this evening.

The Franklin County Board of Commissioners will meet at 6p for their regular work session.

On the agenda, Commissioners will discuss instituting a vaping ordinance, and get an update on efforts to solve the litter/trash problem in the County.

Last spring, the county began researching how to tackle the problem of trash thrown onto the side of the county’s roads and highways after complaints from citizens.

County Manager Derrick Turner has been looking into starting a citizens group under Keep Georgia Beautiful.

Also on the agenda, the Board will review the recent bond resolution by the Franklin County Board of Education.

Tonight’s meeting takes place at 6p at the Franklin County Justice Center in Carnesville but is also available on Zoom.

And the Lavonia City Council will meet this evening for a work session.

On their agenda, the council and mayor will hear a toursim presentation from the Franklin County Chamber and make plans for their upcoming retreat.

That meeting begins at 6p at Lavonia City Hall and is open to the public.

And Hart County Commissioners will meet tonight for their second meeting of the month.

The Board is expected to open bids for jail meals, fire turnout gear, a wheel loader.

They are also expected to hear several requests for alcohol sale licenses.

The Hart BOC meeting begins at 6p at the Hart County Commission office in Hartwell and can also be viewed live on their YouTube page and on the Hart Telecom OnDemand page.
