Convicted Child Molester Files for New Trial in Hart County

A former Hartwell physician and convicted child molester has filed a motion for a new trial in Hart County Superior Court.

According to a report in the Hartwell Sun, Tommy Beeson was in Hart County Superior Court on February 3 to appeal for a new trial, citing Georgia’s rule of professional conduct in relation to his attorney F. Mayes Davison.

Beeson claims Davison undertook the representation of a new client that compromised his obligation to Beeson during the time he was representing him at trial.

Beeson was found guilty in December 2021 of multiple counts of Aggravated Sexual Battery, Child Molestation, and Sexual Battery of a Minor.

He was sentenced to 25 years in prison with no parole.

In March 2018, Hart County Sheriff Mike Cleveland said once the allegations were made regarding Beeson, the case was immediately turned over to the GBI.

As a result of their investigation, Beeson was charged with five counts of aggravated sexual battery, seven counts of child molestation, and two counts of sexual battery.

Beeson fled to Flagstaff, Arizona but surrendered to authorities in March of 2018.

Beeson had an office in Hartwell and for 35 years practiced Family Medicine, Obstetrics, and Gynecology.

In addition to his office in Hartwell, Dr. Beeson also reportedly had offices in both Greenville and Anderson, South Carolina from 2001 to 2002.

He is currently being held in the State Medical Prison in Augusta where he is being treated for an undisclosed illness.
