Confirmed Tornado Touchdowns in Madison, Banks Counties Tuesday

The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has confirmed four tornadoes  touched down in Georgia Tuesday – two tornado touchdowns were confirmed in Northeast Georgia as tropical depression Fred passed over our area.

Lauren Reese with the National Weather Service in Peachtree City said Thursday the first was in Madison County where an EF1 with 100 mph winds touched down.

Madison County EMA reported multiple trees and power lines down Tuesday due to the tornado in the Ila area.

The other confirmed tornado Tuesday was in Banks County where an EF1 tornado with 95mph winds touched down there.

Banks County had reports of three homes damaged on Hawkins and Bennett Roads and a barn damaged on Payne Road.

A number of roads in Banks County were also closed for a time due to flooding.

Other confirmed tornado touchdowns Tuesday were in Green County where an EF1 with 95mph winds touched down and in Sumpter County were an EF1 with 95mph winds was confirmed.

Reese said the National Weather Service is continuing its investigation of possible tornado touchdowns in Georgia.
