Comer Man Charged With Stealing Pick Up

06.10.14 Stolen Vehicle StopA Madison County man faces several felony charges in Banks County after allegedly stealing a pick up truck.

It happened Monday evening about 5:45p at the Chevron station on the Homer Highway.

Banks County Sheriff’s spokesperson Carissa McFaddin tells WLHR News deputies were advised that a white Dodge Ram pick up truck had been taken and was traveling south on U.S.441.

As a Banks County Sheriff’s deputy was stopped at the intersection of Windmill Farm Road, he spotted the stolen vehicle turning onto Windmill Farm Road and going towards the Banks County Sheriff’s office.

Deputies conducted a traffic stop on the pickup as it was attempting to leave the entrance of Banks County Sheriff’s Office.  The driver told deputies he allegedly took the pick up because he had been left at the Chevron convenience store.

Arrested was 43-year old Jerry William Hall Jr. of Lystra Church Road in Comer.  After his arrest, deputies say they found Hall was carrying a fully loaded handgun in his pocket.  He also had two matching fully loaded handgun magazines in his possession, according to McFaddin.

Meantime, the owner of the pick up told deputies, Hall had asked him for a ride and he had refused.  While the truck owner was inside the store, witnesses told deputies they saw Hall allegedly take the vehicle.

Hall is charged with felony theft by taking, felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, felony possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and misdemeanor driving while license suspended.

He remains in the Banks County jail.
