Colquitt Again Named Interim Franklin Co School Superintendent

The Franklin County Board of Education has named Assistant School Superintendent Chuck Colquitt as the Interim School Superintendent while Superintendent Chris Forrer is hospitalized.

Board Chair Robin Cato made the announcement at their called meeting last week after coming out of the executive session.

“At this time, I would like to approve Chuck Colquitt as acting superintendent for an indeterminant time while Mr. Forrer is in the hospital dealing with medical issues and unable to perform the duties of Superintendent. Mr. Colquitt will need to be added to all accounts at Pinnacle Bank and Northeast Georgia Bank,” she said.

Cato’s motion was seconded by Board member Randall Gailey and the motion passed unanimously.

After being approved by the Board, Colquitt thanked them for their confidence.

“I know everyone is familiar with the situation somewhat and I appreciate your confidence in me but it’s more putting confidence in Franklin County and the people that are working to try to do the best for the children here in Franklin County. That’s what Chris would want us to do and that’s what we’re going to do. We’re going to make sure they get the best education possible. I think when he comes back he’ll be proud of what we’ve done,” Colquitt told the Board.

This is the second time Colquitt has been named to serve as the Interim School Superintendent. In March 2021, the school board voted to name him to that post when Forrer was hospitalized at that time.

He served in that role through May 2021.
