A22-year-old Charles Kyle Matthewsnother Colbert, GA resident faces drug charges in Elbert County after being arrested last week.

According to a press release from the Elbert County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on Jones Ferry Road.  Sheriff Melvin Andrews says the vehicle was sitting in a field located just off of the road, and had been there for over an hour.

Andrews says the deputy approached the vehicle and woke the suspect up by tapping on the window, and noticed scales sitting one of the vehicles seats.

“He made several motions towards the air conditioner knob, and when he stepped out, the subject almost fell against the truck, and the officer could tell he appeared to be under the influence”, said Andrews. “When he stepped out of the vehicle, the officer noticed scales in the seat of the drug, like the kind commonly used in drug activity.”
