Classes Begin Today in Franklin County for 2023-2024 School Year

Franklin County Students are back in the classroom today for the first day of the 2023-2024 school year.

Students are returning to class with some new faces in the classroom and administrative offices.

This is the first full academic year for Melanie Burton-Brown as the Franklin County School Superintendent.

She is assisted by former Carnesville Elementary School Principal Karen Correia who is now the Deputy Assistant School Superintendent, and Carl Dekker who now serves as the new Assistant Superintendent of Operations.

At the high school, students will have Matt Stowers as their new principal, replacing Roger Wilkinson who left at the end of the last term.

Working alongside Stowers will be former wrestling coach Kevin Compton as the new high school Assistant Principal.

In the high school Athletic Department, former High School Assistant Principal Clay Moore takes over for Jason Oliver as the New Athletic Director and Contract Services Director.

More reshuffling at the elementary schools as well.

Former Franklin County Middle School principal Kasey Haley is the new principal of Lavonia Elementary School.

Meredith Kilgore replaces Haley as the Middle School Assistant Principal and Delina Wester moves up to Principal at Carnesville Elementary from her previous position as Assistant Principal.
