Earlier we told you about the Franklin County Challenger League – a baseball league for special needs children.

Franklin County School Superintendent Chris Forrer is involved in the Challenger League and this week on the Franklin County School’s Facebook page, he announced the league will be having their All-Star game at the ball fields at the Rocky Ford Recreation Center.

According to their website, the Challenger League provides a safe place that individuals with disabilities can call their own.

No child with a disability is turned away from the Challenger League and each child is matched with a buddy.

The buddy gets to know the child and serves as a big brother or sister.

Additionally, parents are able to come to practice and games and other activities and enjoy watching their child play with friends having a typical experience while building fun memories.

In Franklin County, the Challenger League teams play every Saturday at 1p at the Rocky Ford Recreation Center, but this weekend’s game is at 7:30p Saturday evening at the Franklin County High School softball field.
