Carnegie Library to Hold Open House January 25

Lavonia Carnegie Library2Lavonia residents are invited to mark their calendars to attend an open house at the historic Carnegie Library.

The open house is coming up Monday, January 25 from 5:30p to 7:30p.

Organized and sponsored by the Friends of the Lavonia Library, the open house is designed to showcase the repairs and renovation done on the library over the past two years.

On the library’s exterior, repairs were made to the roof, and the foundation, and rotted wood replaced around the facia boards and soffit.

Landscaping was also redone to prevent water from running into the foundation.

The library also was repainted and a new entryway was put in that included new front doors.

On the interior, the library received new flooring and paint, along with new lighting.

Again the library open house is Monday, January 25 from 5:30p to 7:30p.

Friends of the Library will also take that time to honor recently retired library branch manager Emma LeCroy.

And in addition to the library open house, the front office section of the recently renovated Lavonia High School Agriculture Building will also be open for tours.
