Campgrounds and Day Use Sites to Open Thursday on Hartwell Lake

bg-lake-hartwell2.jpgThe U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Hartwell Lake Office will open some Georgia and South Carolina campgrounds and day use areas for the 2014 recreation season Thursday, May 1.  They include:

Oconee Point and Coneross campgrounds in Oconee County, S.C., and Crescent Group campground in Anderson County will be open through September 30th.

In Hart County, Paynes Creek Campground and Georgia River Campground will be open through September 9.

Except for the Georgia River campground, these campsites provide electrical hookups, restroom and shower facilities as well trails, boat ramps and a courtesy dock.

Other amenities at this campground include, dump station, playgrounds, park attendant, trails, and  security lighting.   Also a number of day use areas will open Thursday.

On the Georgia side they include, Poplar Springs Day Use Area in Franklin County, Ga. And Elrod Ferry Day Use Area in Hart County will be open through September 9th.

Dayuse areas provide picnic shelters, picnic sites, restroom facilities, playgrounds, swim beaches and boat ramps with courtesy dock and security lighting.
