Busby Sworn In for Four-Year Term

Franklin County Commissioner for District 3, Elizabeth Busby was sworn in last week for her four-year term.

Busby has been serving on the Commission as the interim commissioner for District 3 since August, filling the unexpired term of former Commissioner Ryan Swails who resigned to take a new job outside Franklin County.

After being sworn in, Busby said she is still honored and humbled to serve the county she loves.

She also noted that the past four months serving as interim commissioner have been a learning experience.

Busby said she is excited about the future of Franklin County.

Meantime, citizens of District 4 start the new year with no county representation after Cole Roper, who won the seat last May, resigned in November before taking the oath of office.

Qualifying for the District 4 seat begins next Monday, January 9 and runs through noon on Wednesday, January 11at the Franklin County Board of Elections office in Carnesville .

The qualifying fee is $216.00.

The special election to fill the District 4 seat is Tuesday, March 21.

Early voting will be held Monday, February 27 – Friday, March 17 from 8a to 5p at the Board of Elections office.
