Breaking News: Hart County School Superintendent Resigns

Hart County School Superintendent Jerry Bell has resigned.

WLHR News has obtained a copy of an email from a reliable source that Bell sent to school system employees Wednesday afternoon.

In that email, Bell said he has been named the sole finalist for the Superintendent’s position in, “another school system in another county,” but he did not mention which county.

Bell has served as Hart County School Superintendent since 2010.

According to Bell, after the required 14-day waiting period the school board in that county will give final approval to his selection. Bell will take over his new job in June.

In ending his email to school employees, Bell said, “I will leave this system in the hands of the most capable people I know. The next superintendent will have the opportunity to build upon a solid foundation created by every employee in the system. Our system is financially strong and on the path to academic excellence.”

Calls made to Bell’s office Wednesday were not returned.
