Bowman Receives LMIG Funds for Road Projects

The City of Bowman has once again been approved for a Local Maintenance and Improvement Grant from the Georgia Department of Transportation.

This is the third year Bowman has been awarded LMIG funds which are being used as part of a three-year plan to make improvements in the downtown area.

Bowman City Mayor Pete Gibbons said this year the city was approved for $11,265.

“It’s a very easy grant to get and they pretty much give it to anyone who applies that has all their ducks in a row”, said Gibbons. “We are happy and appreciative they continue to give us that money. That was for year 3 of our 3 year plan going towards downtown.”

Now that the third year funds have been received, Gibbons said the city can still apply for LMIG funds next year, but will need to have new projects ready to present in the grant, or add more projects to the downtown improvement effort.
