Bowersville to Hold Candidate Forum Tonight

Bowersville voters will have a chance this evening to hear from the candidates running for all four city council seats and the mayor’s post.

A special candidate forum will take place tonight at the Bowersville Community Center on Main St. beginning at 7p.

There’s just one more day left to vote early for the local municipal races in both Hart and Franklin Counties and according to the Hart County Elections and Registrations office, as of Wednesday, only five people have come in to cast an early ballot in the Bowersville races.

Bowersville voters wishing to cast an early ballot this week must go to the Hart County Elections and Registrations office on Cade St. in Hartwell.

Earlier this year, the entire City Council resigned and the mayor, John Bailey would not commented on the reason.

Candidates for mayor include Leisa Jill Lay, Jim Jordan and Gary Stewart. Incumbent Mayor John Bailey has chosen not to run.

Candidates vying for Post 1 on the council to replace George Nolan include Dianne Brookins, Kelly Cagle and Michael Rumsey.

In the Post 2 race to replace Mike Shirley candidates include, Felicia Brown, John Smith and Janis Dean Stanger.

For the Post 3 seat to replace Betty Hulsey the candidates are Cindy Cheek Hensley, Steven Wilson and James Gabriel.

In the Post 4 race, David Black is running against Jeffrey Burney to replace Judy Burdette.
