Boil Water Advisory Continues in Gumlog Community

As a precaution, the City of Lavonia Water Department is issuing a boil advisory effective immediately due to a broken main water line.

Customers may experience low water pressure or no water at all. This boil advisory is to remain in effect until otherwise noted.

The water boil advisory is issued for Brittany Harbor West.

“The City of Lavonia Water Department is working diligently to correct this broken main,” said Ashley Rose Dodd City of Lavonia Utility Billing Clerk. “It is recommended that all consumers disinfect their water before consuming it.”

Water should also be boiled when making ice, brushing teeth or using it for food preparation or rinsing of foods by the following means.

Boil water for one full minute in a clean container. The one-minute starts after the water has been brought to a rolling boil. Once the water has been boiled, you may improve the taste of the water by shaking it in a closed container, by pouring it from one clean container to another or by adding a small pinch of salt to each quart of water that is boiled.

“Consumers should disinfect their water prior to consumption until otherwise notified,” Dodd said. “Once this boil advisory has been lifted we will post an update as soon as possible.”

Thank you to our Water Department for working quickly and efficiently to correct this issue. We appreciate your hard work.
