Body of Atlanta Man Found at the Bottom of Tallulah Gorge

Authorities are investigating after a man was found dead at the bottom of Tallulah Gorge in Rabun County last Friday.

39-year old William Lang Pottle’s of Brookhaven was found in the gorge Friday night, according to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources spokesman Mark McKinnon.

He said Pottle’s body was found about 150 feet from the top of an overlook.

Searchers began looking for Pottle after receiving a report of a missing hiker.

His car was later located in the parking lot of the park’s Interpretative Center.

McKinnon did not say how Pottle got to the bottom of the gorge, and said that the investigation is still active.

His body was sent to the Rabun County Coroner’s Office.
