Body Found in Oconee County, SC Trailer Fire
It happened Thursday morning about 9a on Gracie Lane in the Long Creek community.
Oconee County Fire Chief Charlie King tells WLHR News fire crews were hampered from getting to the structure due to muddy dirt roads.
However, he said when they arrived, the single-wide was fully involved.
Once the blaze was brought under control, firefighters found a body inside the home.
Oconee County Coroner Karl Addis said a 66 year-old man was found dead in his bedroom.
Addis said the preliminary scene investigation indicates the man died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Oconee County Sheriff’s Department and Oconee County Fire personnel continue to investigate the cause of the fire which was in another area of the home.
SLED fire investigators are assisting the Oconee County agencies.
