Autopsy Planned for Clarkesville Mayor Greene

An autopsy will be performed today at the GBI Crime Lab in metro Atlanta on the body of Clarkesville Mayor Dr. Terry Greene.

Greene was shot Sunday in what investigators believe was connected to a domestic dispute with his wife.

According to a press release issued by the GBI, Greene survived the gunshot initially and was airlifted to Atlanta Medical Center for treatment where he died early Monday morning.

Clarkesville Police Chief Brad Barrett said his office received a call about 7p Sunday night about a shooting at a home on Asbury St.

When officers arrived, he said they found Greene lying on the floor with a gunshot wound to the head.

According to the GBI, the investigation is active and ongoing and they do not plan to release any further investigation at this time.

Greene, an area physician, had been mayor of Clarkesville since 2005.
He was 53.
