Annual Spring Rabies Clinic Set for April 17 at NE GA Animal Shelter

Spring is here and now is the time to make sure your pet is vaccinated against rabies.

This year, the Northeast Georgia Animal Shelter in Lavonia is again holding its annual low-cost rabies clinic next month.

Shelter Director Tammie Jourdenais is encouraging anyone who needs to have their pet vaccinated to bring them to the shelter on April 17.

Rabies vaccines are $5 for a one-year and $10 for a three-year. Dog and cat distemper shots will also be available for $7 each.

The most common carriers of the rabies virus in Northeast Georgia are raccoons, foxes, and skunks.

If your dog or cat is an outside pet or is even outdoors in a dog pen or on a tie-out, they need to be protected with a current rabies vaccine.

It is also the law in Georgia. Inside dogs and cats should also be protected.

Additionally, there is no cure for rabies either in pets or in people, but you can protect them and your family by having your pet vaccinated.

Again, the annual low-cost rabies clinic at the Northeast Georgia Animal Shelter in Lavonia is Saturday, April 17 from 10a to 2p.

The Northeast Georgia Animal Shelter is located on Bear Creek Road in Lavonia.
