Animal Shelter Sends Out Plea for Donations of Cleaning Supplies

The Northeast Georgia Animal Shelter is asking for the public’s help to donate some much needed supplies.

According to shelter Director Sheri Lockhart, they are over-run with puppies and adult dogs, as well as litters of kittens. That means there’s lots of cleaning to do.

“We’re in desperate need of bleach and clay cat litter right now,” Lockhart said. “We don’t need name brands. You can pick those things up at the dollar store. Bleach, litter and large trash bags are items we use daily and we are in desperate need of those things.”

Lockhart said they also need other kinds of cleaning supplies for doing laundry and washing the animals that come in.

“We can also use laundry soap, dryer sheets, and dish soap,” she said. “We also need dog shampoo. So if anyone out there would like to help us with these kinds of donations, we will gratefully accept them.”

And they can always use newspapers, shredded paper, dog and cat treats, as well old blankets and pet bedding, bowls, etc.

If you would like to donate, the shelter is a 501c3, which means any and all donations are tax deductible.

The shelter is located on Bear Creek Road in Lavonia and is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11a to 4p.  You can call them at 706-356-5363.
