Alleged Major Meth Trafficer in NE GA Arrested

A White County man is behind bars after an FBI investigation into alleged meth dealing.

On Monday, the FBI’s North Georgia Major Offender Task Force along with the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office descended on the home of David Hawkins on Pelican Drive in Cleveland, GA.

Authorities say Hawkins had allegedly been selling approximately 1 kilo of methamphetamine a week over the past 2 years in White, Lumpkin, Dawson, Banks, Jackson, Habersham, and Hall Counties.

During their search Monday, agents seized approximately 20 ounces of crystal methamphetamine, approximately $200,000 in cash, a 2014 Ford F-150, a 2014 Ford Taurus, a 1981 Corvette, and a 2004 Harley Davidson Motorcycle.

White County Sheriff Neal Walden said because of this arrest, the methamphetamine drug trafficking business in North Georgia has greatly been greatly reduced.
