Advance Voting Continues This Weekend

A reminder that Advance voting continues today for the Presidential Preference Primary.

However, if you can’t make it during the week, you will also have a chance on Saturday to cast an early ballot.

As of Thursday morning 106 people in Franklin County had cast early ballots at the Board of Elections office in Carnesville, according to Elections Supervisor Tracie Creason.

In Hart County, Elections Supervisor Robin said 151 people had cast early ballots by mid-morning Thursday.

There will be two Saturday early voting days, tomorrow, February 24 and Saturday, March 2 from 9a to 5p.

And in addition to two Saturday Advance voting days, this election the State is giving counties the option to hold a Sunday early voting day on February 25 and March 3.

Both Franklin County Election Supervisor Tracie Creason and Hart County Election Supervisor Robin Webb tell WLHR News they have no plans to hold Sunday early voting for the Presidential Preference Primary.

On the Republican ballot, of the 11 candidates currently listed on the ballot in Georgia, four are left. They are former President Donald Trump, former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, Ryan Binkley, and US Air Force Reserve pilot Major David Stuckenberg.

Those Republican candidates who have dropped out of the Presidential race include Vivek Ramaswamy, Asa Hutchinson, Ron DeSantis, Tim Scott, Perry Johnson, Chris Christie, and Doug Bergum.

On the Democratic Ballot, Incumbent President Joe Biden Jr. is now facing only one challenger after Marianne Williamson announced her decision to drop out of the race earlier this month.

President Biden is being challenged by Democratic Congressman Dean Phillips.

Additionally, Senator Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is running as an independent but is not on the Georgia Presidential Preference Primary ballot.

Hart County Elections Supervisor Robin Webb said Kennedy will be on the November ballot providing he gets enough signatures in Georgia to run.

In Georgia, to run as an independent candidate for President a candidate must get 7,500 signatures before they can be placed on the ballot. The filing deadline for an independent Presidential candidate to be placed on the ballot July 9, 2024.

Advance voting runs through Friday, March 8.
