Advance Voting Brisk in Franklin and Hart Counties

Advance voting for the May 24 Primary is off to a record start.

Early voting began Monday and according to the Secretary of State’s office, overall, 27,298 Georgians cast their ballots early, in-person Monday alone.

That’s three times the number that turned out to vote on the first day of the 2018 primary election and almost double the number for the June 2020 primary.

In Franklin County, Elections Supervisor Gina Bannister said the numbers are not breaking records, but it’s been steady but

“We’ve had 114 vote early so far,” she said Wednesday. “I’ve been surprised that with the second day Tuesday, we hit over 100. That’s good for us. We’ve had a lot of calls about early voting and about Saturday voting. So, hopefully, we’ll have a good turnout Saturday. Saturday voting is from 9a to 4p this Saturday and next Saturday.”

Bannister is also reminding those who plan to vote absentee that the time to send in your request for an absentee ballot is running out.

“We’ve gotten 11 ballots back in. I’ve mailed out 35. So I haven’t mailed out a whole lot but next Friday (May 13) is the deadline for me to mail absentee ballots out,” she said. “So if you want to vote absentee you need to get your requests in as soon as possible.”

In Hart County, Elections Supervisor Robin Webb said as of Wednesday morning they’ve had 181 people cast an early ballot.

Early voting is 9a to 4:30p at the Franklin and Hart County Board of Elections offices.

There are two Saturday voting days, this Saturday and Saturday, May 14 from 9a to 4p.
