Advance Voting Begins Today in Georgia for November Mid-Term Elections

Today is the first day of early voting in Georgia for the mid-term elections and there’s expected to be a heavy turnout.

Voters in Franklin and Hart counties will go to their respective Board of Elections office to cast their early ballot.

In the State races, voters are deciding on a U.S. Senator and U.S. Representative.

Voters will also choose a State Senator and State House Representative.

In other State races, voters in Georgia are choosing a Governor, Lt. Governor, Secretary of State, State Labor Commissioner, Agriculture Commissioner, State School Superintendent, Insurance Commissioner, and State Attorney General.

In Franklin County, voters are also deciding on two County Commission seats and a new County Commission Chair, and three Board of Education races.

And there are two Georgia Constitutional Amendments, two Statewide referendums, and Franklin County voters will also decide on whether to agree to the next Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST VI).

Franklin County Interim Election Supervisor Traci Creason says she’s expecting a big turnout at the Board of Elections office in Carnesville.

Creason said as of Friday her office has mailed out 330 absentee paper ballots.

If you plan to vote absentee by mail in this election, you must turn in your application by Friday, October 28th and it must be returned by 7p Tuesday, November 8 in order to be counted.

Hart County Election Supervisor Robin Webb said even if you voted absentee by mail in the May primary, you must request a new absentee ballot for the November General Election.

Webb said the only exceptions are for voters who are elderly or disabled, but she said even those voters must have already requested to receive an automatic absentee ballot for the General Election when they requested their absentee ballot for the May primary.

If you have questions about early voting or absentee ballots you can call Robin Webb in Hart County at 706-376-8911.

In Franklin County, you can call Traci Creason at 706-384-4390.
