Advance Voting Begins Today for Municipal Elections

vote7Advance voting for the November municipal election begins today and runs through November 1st.

Voters in municipalities in both Franklin and Hart Counties will be going to the polls on November 5th to choose city councilmen and in one case a mayor.

But because today is technically a holiday, Columbus Day, the  Secretary of State’s office says early voting might not begin until Tuesday in those places where local governments observe Columbus Day as a holiday along with state and federal governments.

A spokesman says you should contact your local election officials to determine what day it begins in your city and/or county.

Advance voting will start on Tuesday in Hart County at the new Registrar’s office at 182 Cade St. Suite B in Hartwell.

Voters can cast a ballot from 8a to 5p Tuesday – Friday this week and Monday – Friday next week and the week after.

In Hart County, the Special Election will include the City of Hartwell Mayor and Council Seats, Hart County Commission – District 3 Seat, a SPLOST initiative by the City of Bowersville and an ESPLOST by the Hart County Board of Education.

There will be no Saturday voting, during the Early Voting time period, since no federal offices are included on this ballot.

Voters in Franklin County can cast an early ballot at the Franklin County Elections and Registrations office in Carnesville Monday through Friday from 8a to 4:30p.

Franklin County voters will be choosing city council seats in Royston, Franklin Springs, Canon, Carnesville and Lavonia.

All three mayoral races, in Royston, Canon, and Franklin Springs are running unopposed.
