AARP Tax Aide Opens Today in Hartwell

AARP Foundation Tax-Aide program opens today in Hartwell for taxpayers who are over 50 and have low to moderate incomes.

The free tax help program provides in-person and virtual tax assistance to anyone, free of charge.

AARP volunteers who are certified by the IRS will help fill out federal and state returns. However, there are certain tax forms they do not work with including rental property income, farm income, moving expenses, and certain casualty and theft losses or losses from a self-employment business.

Tax-Aide sites are currently open for the 2022 tax season across the Country.

In Hartwell, the AARP Tax-Aide site will operate Mondays only beginning today through April 11, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Hart County Adult Learning Center, 110 Benson St., Hartwell, GA 30643.

New this year, you must make an appointment to see a tax preparer and you can schedule an appointment by calling (706) 805-0808. If no answer, leave a message and your call will be returned.

When you go to your appointment be sure to bring all 2021 related papers, a photo ID, your social security card, any health insurance 1095A, a checkbook for the direct deposit form, and a copy of your 2020 tax return.
