A Dozen Applications Received So Far for Fr. Co. Manager Position

Franklin County continues its search for a new county manager.

AT their regualr meeting this week, Franklin County Board of Commission chair Thomas Bridges said they have received a number of applications so far.

“We’ve had 12 applications for the position of manager,” he said. “I’m asking the board of commissioners if they will start sifting through those 12 and start the process. Of course, the position is still open and if any new applications come in, we can review that application at that time.”

Current manager John Phillips is stepping aside to resume his old duties as the County Engineer and Planning Director.

In August, Phillips sent an email to the board and to Bridges recommending he remove himself as manager in order for the board to find a person with extensive financial experience to step into the job.

The primary qualification the board is looking for is a candidate who has a strong financial background.

So far, no timeline has been announced as to when the board of commission hopes to have a new county manager in place.
