Lavonia Woman Indicted on BURGLARY, THEFTs AT TWO SALONS

A Lavonia woman has been indicted by the Franklin County Grand Jury on one count of burglary and one count of theft by taking in two separate incidents.

Lavonia Assistant Police Chief Daniel Carson said both happened in January. The burglary happened first at the Wild Flower Salon on Main St. In downtown Lavonia.

Carson said the suspect’s arrest came when another salon in Lavonia reported a theft.

“Through the investigation, we identified a female,” Carson said. “She had actually attempted to commit a theft at another business in town. So, they called and reported her. We made contact with her walking down the street. She did not give us consent to search her bag but we could see some of the items sticking out of the top of her bag that we thought would be associated with the burglary. One of the investigators made contact with the owner there at the salon and she confirmed that she did have those items stolen.”

Carson said the suspect, identified as Alecia Denise Moss, also admitted to the theft at Salon Noel.

“We told her to check her cameras to see if she (the suspect) did commit a theft, which we confirmed that she actually did commit a theft there as well. So, we were able to link her to not only the burglary but another theft at another location. And she also had possession of methamphetamine,” Carson said.

Moss was indicted on a total of seven counts.

In addition to the burglary and theft by taking counts, Moss was also indicted on two counts of theft by shoplifting, two drug possession counts, and one count of possession of drug-related objects.

The shoplifting indictments stem from Moss allegedly taking shelving from Dill’s Food Store and cosmetics from Salon Noel.

Carson said all of the stolen items have been returned to the store owners.
