A Cobb County man, wanted in connection with a shooting  in Marietta over the weekend is behind bars after being caught in Franklin County.

According to Franklin County Sheriff Stevie Thomas,  the arrest came Sunday morning at a truck stop off Exit 160 in Carnesville.

“Our dispatcher got information that a suspect from Cobb County could be in our area,” Thomas said. “A supervisor was out on patrol and spotted the vehicle described by Cobb County, which was a white Mustang with Florida tags, parked at the Petro Truck Stop.”

Inside that white Mustang was the suspect, identified as 41-year old William Dennis DeVore III of Marietta.

“Without incident, they were able to arrest DeVore,” Thomas said. “Cobb County had information that in the early morning hours of Sunday, he allegedly shot a couple in Marietta. After his arrest, deputies searched his person and found a gun in his pants pocket. This is believed to be the weapons used in the shooting in Cob County.”

According to Thomas, DeVore had another gun, which deputies found inside his car.

DeVore is facing two counts of felony aggravated assault and one count of aggravated battery stemming from the shooting of a man and woman in Marietta, according to Thomas.

He was taken to the Franklin County Sheriff’s office Sunday, then later transported back to Cobb County.
